How to Use Helper Mode

Learn how it works in 5 steps.

Before You Start

Check these items before using Helper.

App requirement

use version 9.26 or later, turn on the conversation feature switch, and make sure conversation mode can be entered.

Firmware version

update to firmware V1.2.059 or later.

Device Setup

Make sure the device you want to control or check has been added to the app and is ready to control.

Voice Control

Enter conversation mode first, then say the device name and action.

Connection & Compatibility

Wi-Fi devices are prioritized. Some Bluetooth devices may require a Hub. Infrared devices are not directly controlled by KATA Friends; see the latest support list for details.

Can KATA Friends add new devices?

No. Device setup is not part of the Helper feature.

Can KATA Friends create or control scenes and automations?

Helper can check and run scenes or automations that are already set up in the SwitchBot app. For example, it can run Coming Home mode so your lights, AC, air purifier, and other devices respond based on your preset scene. It cannot create new scenes or automations.

Does KATA Friends support smart devices from other brands?

Currently, Helper supports only the SwitchBot devices and features listed on this page. It does not directly control third-party smart devices.

Is KATA Friends always listening or watching me?

KATA Friends does not continuously respond to device control commands. You must first enter conversation mode before Helper can process device control or status requests. Outside of conversation mode, those commands will not be processed.

If I have many SwitchBot devices at home, how does KATA Friends tell them apart?

Clearly say the device name, room, or scene name, such as “Turn on the living room light” or “Run Coming Home mode.” If device names are similar, we recommend renaming them in the app for easier recognition.

Why can’t my device be controlled, or what should I do if it does not work?

Please check the model, region, connection method, app version, and firmware version. Say the device name and action more clearly, then try again. Supported features may vary by SKU.

Will supported devices continue to be updated?

Yes. Please refer to this page for the latest supported device list and update information.
