Review of a better summer thanks to Switchbot fans !!!

This summer in Cadiz (Spain) was complicated by the heat waves of these days but thanks to the fans I have been able to cope with it much better than expected.
As of today I have already bought the SwitchBot Standing Circulator Fan and the SwitchBot Battery Circulator Fan 2 Pro. Both complement each other very well.
I really appreciate the GREAT integration with HomeAssistant since through automations when I am present and absent from my house I can make them work and they make the air circulate throughout the house.
It has been the great discovery of this summer and I hope to give them very good use to both throughout the year.

Fan of Fans - a comparison

I bought both the original Battery Circulator Fan and the 2 Pro, so let’s get into it:

First, I’m not convinced “Pro” is the right word here. You get a filter for large particles, a small reservoir for scented oil, and an ionizer. Nice extras, sure, but does that make it “professional,” or is that just what you’d expect from a version 2 anyway? I’ll let you decide.

Overall, though, it’s a great fan. Matter connectivity makes it react much faster than the original. The design is improved and looks genuinely sleek (If you’re a smoker, go for the beige one). The light is brighter, warmer, and just looks better overall. Plugging cables in and out is easier too, since they moved to the back instead of hiding underneath. And the airflow got noticeably stronger.

BUT here’s the catch: it’s also a lot louder, and that’s exactly what killed the one thing that made the original stand out.

As for colors, the 2 Pro black is… black, but not in a nice way, if I’m honest. And beige - why beige, exactly? Black and white aren’t colors, but they own it with pride and confidence. Beige, on the other hand, is what you pick when you’re too scared to commit.

Okay, now let’s talk about what both fans still get wrong. Vertical rotation goes all the way up to the ceiling, which is nice, but only about 2 degrees downward? So no matter where you place it, the airflow can’t go lower than the surface it’s sitting on. I have ten perfectly good spots for it in my living room, but sitting on my couch, it can only blow air over my head. And no, I’m not putting it on the floor just to kick up all the dust - multiple times, because it settles back down. Not to mention all the pet hair it stirs up...

Then there’s the angle problem. You still can’t set a precise angle, not through the app, not through Home Assistant - only oscillation on or off, horizontal and vertical, at 30, 60, or 90 degrees, on both fans. Okay, that's nice. But in Home Assistant, you can’t even toggle vertical oscillation, only horizontal. Wouldnt it be nice to have custom presets saved in the app that make it move into a specific position? Just daydreaming... And to top it off, both fans respond to the same IR remote (old and new version's remotes are interchangeable), so if you don’t block the beam with your hand, you’ll turn Fan 1 on and Fan 2 off at the same time.

My conclusion: Both of them are genuinely good fans, don’t get me wrong. But my third purchase - yes, I bought a third one - ended up being another original model. Not because of specs, but because that’s just how it goes sometimes: I love the design too much, and it’s still the only one of the two that’s impressively quiet.

P.S. The black-and-white design of the original also happens to remind me a lot of the music video for Björk’s “All Is Full of Love,” which is exactly why I love it so much. Sue me.

So, Pro or not Pro? Depends on whether you want more power (2 Pro) or more peace and quiet (original model) - just don’t expect both.
